LOC Rock steady eye shadow pencil

Shadow sticks aren't something I will rush out and buy, I barely own any and really feel like it is a product I don't reach for enough to warrant owning many of. I decided to try this LOC one out when it arrived in a Birchbox I got a few months ago. From testing it out and looking into the product it has opened my eyes to how the product can change my make up looks and may have shown me that there is a gap in my make up collection.

The pencil comes in a black plastic coated, pencil shaped tube that look sleek and sophisticated. The minimal white branding on the front is recognisable but not too distracting from the overall look. I like that the lid is black, but you have a band of colour on the end of the pencil to allow you to still see what colour the pencil is without having to take the lid off if you have a few from the brand.

The colour I have is called 'Rock steady' and is a lovely bronze-taupe shade that beautifully nude and one I can get away with wearing day to day on my eyes. The colour is highly pigmented and looks stunning when used on the eyes. The formula is a nice rich consistency which applies nicely, but dries quickly, meaning if you want to smoke this out I suggest applying to one eye and blending before moving to the other eye.

The colour looks beautiful on the eyes, lasting throughout the day without smudging off or creasing, as well as being easy to apply shadow over to create a more intense look. I found this worked really well and gave my eyes incredible definition which was perfect for the looks I wanted to create using this pencil. I have used this on my lower lash line and my eyelid and have liked the way it works on both to be able to create a smokey outer corner look. For something I would never reach for and haven't really explored much in the past this is definitely a shadow stick I will be reaching for a lot more to create beautiful eye looks.

I didn't expect to like this type of product as they never really interest me too much so I tend to stay clear of them. I was, in fact pleasantly shocked by this eye pencil and I definitely think it is one I will be reaching for frequently based on my experiences of testing it out over these past few weeks. I am glad I received the shade I did as it allowed me to want to test it out as I could mix it into a lot of neutral looks I have created over the past few weeks. This pencil is exclusive to Birchbox and can be found on their website here. I think for £8 it is definitely a great price and one that I would definitely look at getting more colours from if I was to order from Birchbox in the future. I would love to know if you use eye pencils and what ones you recommends as I would really like to try out more as I think it is an area I am very much lacking products from!
