Glamglow Supermud clearing treatment

I had never tried Glamglow masks, and when I mentioned on Instagram I wanted to try them on someone's normal photo of face masks Glamglow got in touch and offered to send me a sample of a face mask to try. I was under no obligation to review it and the review has not been influenced by that fact that this was kindly gifted to me by the brand. I was very excited to try the mask when it arrived and while there are lots of the masks in the brand that I would like to try I was glad that the randomised sample I received was one that I would actually consider buying when deciding between a few so I was happy to give it a go.

The sample comes in a squeeze tube which was easy to use but the full size does come in a tub which I think will be so easy to use and makes sense as you can scoop out as much or as little as you need. I find the texture really easy to work with, it is thick enough to get a nice even coverage but thin enough to squeeze out easily and work over the face with minimal effort.

The mask goes on a dark grey shade and evolves to a light grey as it dries and feels a little tighter on the skin. You can leave the mask on for 5-20 minutes and rinse off with water once dry and has been on for the desired time. The mask, in my opinion has a faint liquorice scent that I was ok with, but I know some people really don't like the scent so be aware if that would put you off.

The mask feels lovely on the skin and while it is a slight bit cooling on my skin when first applied it doesn't feel like it is on the skin and isn't noticeable as it dried down apart from feeling a little tight as it dries down which most of these masks have that effect too. I deliberately left this on a little while after it dried, maybe 10-15 minutes just to see if it felt any different when it had been on a while but it still feels really comfortable and easy to have on the face.

I have had a huge hormonal breakout this month which is really annoying and so unlike my skin, so I decided to put this to the test on my skin to treat and target the spots and see how it worked on the non spotty areas of my face too. I managed to get two full face masks and a half face mask to spot treat my chin area and concentrate the product on my chin. I was pleased with how much product came in the tube as I did think it would be a one time use when it first arrived.

The mask dries on the skin and you can kind of see where the problem areas lie, such as the huge spot I aimed to treat on this application just below my lip... Very attractive close up of my face isn't it! I was able to easily rinse this off with water and a flannel and I felt like mt skin was smooth, soft and although still present and slightly angry still the mask did seem to calm the spots and reduce the way they looked. The mask does say it gives Super clear, super poreless- looking skin, however I am not so sure it did make my pores look smaller, but I guess there's only so much you can do with pores to make them look smaller and up to now I haven't found anything that has actually worked on my pores! One other thing I should mention, this didn't irritate the dry skin I get on my cheek, the product is not recommended for sensitive skin, but due to it just becoming dry if it reacts badly I willing to test it out and see how it reacted, but using a normal night time moisturiser like I would every evening the product showed no signs of my skin being dry when the product was washed off and did not develop into a dry patch over night.

AT £39 for 50ml of product this is quite a pricey mask and while I did really enjoy it and it worked pretty well on my skin I think I want to try more from the range, and the price tag is preventing me wanting to repurchase this one as I know I can't spend £40 on this and £40 on another to try. The price means I am most likely to try a different Glam glow mask just to make sure it is cost effective, but I do like this one enough to repurchase in the future if I feel I can justify the cost. If you want to find out more about the mask or shop it online, you can find it here on Boots, and you can also find a lot of other products from the range on the Boots website too.  Let me know in the comments if you have tried a Glamglow mask and what you thought to it, and what your favourite mask is from other brands as I love to try new things!
