The April spring clean

If you have been a long time reader of my blog, or even just over the past few months you may have seen my post about wanting to be more fashion conscious. In that I explained about having a lot of clothes I needed to sort through as well as shoes, bags and all those sorts of things to just finally get rid of. Some had been sorted and never thrown away, or not taken to the charity shop and were just really bringing me down, I hate when my space feels cluttered and like its closing in one me, and that is really how I have felt this past month.

This month I am having a few shopping trips and have a few things on my wishlist and that I want to buy in order to be a bit more on trend for spring. I also want to get some new pyjama bits as I will be in pyjamas for a week or so after I have been in hospital so I will be looking for come cute pyjamas to add to my collection and to make me feel happier while healing! I haven't had chance with being so busy this month to get rid of the clothing I had sorted so this week while I am off I am on a massive declutter mission as they will be gone by the end of the week, I am certain! I have far too many shoes and bag and I just feel weighed down by my belongings and the things I own and I just want a clean, decluttered space.

Spring is a great time to switch up my skin care, I have bought a few new bits to try out, including a toner, a new moisturiser and have a few interesting samples I want to test out over the next few months to shake up my skincare and give me a little bit of an opportunity to try some new things to see what I want to invest in to keep my skin in top condition.

I'm taking another look at my make up routine, looking for slightly lighter foundations or BB creams to mix up the heavier coverage I have been wearing over the winter, as well as looking to brighter coloured lips rather than the nudes and berry tones I've been wearing over the colder months. I will still be wearing nude on some of the days but I want to experiment with pinks, redder ones and orange based tones to give more variety to my make up as the warmer weather begins to break through. I also can't wait to wear some brighter nail polishes, I have neglected my nails a bit this past month of so and I want to wear nail polish more as the summer approaches just to brighten up my look and get the most from my nail polish collection.

My home is in need of a pick me up and a once over, it doesn't need a 'clean' as such, it gets cleaned as much as it should, but it does need a declutter and a downsize. I want to go through every inch of the house and go through bills that have accumulated to be shredded, and do all the jobs like pulling the sofas out and giving my floors a deep clean under the rugs etc that only get done every few months. I also want to paint my stairs and the living room could do with a fresh coat of paint, but I don't quite know if that will get done these two weeks off, but its firmly on the list if I get chance as they are quite big jobs by the time you have moved and covered everything.

Lastly, I want to give my health a spring clean. This may sound weird, but I am at a point where my body is crying out to have some sorts of medical input, hence the surgery I have briefly mentioned, I really need to make sure the few changes I have been making to my diet are sticking, as we can easily fall into having take away and eating on the go when we get busy. I want to make sure I am eating more fruit, getting more vitamins and really loving my body. I work out, or aim to work out 4 times a week, with it sometimes being 2-3 on really busy weeks, so I want to make sure I am having protein when I work out and just really making the most of what I am doing in the gym to see the best results I can, I am currently waiting on more information and definite dates of surgery and things like that, but if you do want to know more about what I am going in for do let me know and I will begin to put a post together on what I know so far. Its quite confusing for me to get my head around now, but I feel I will be ok once I have a little more medical knowledge about my own body and not just Google knowledge from googling the name of what they are searching for.... I just want my body to know I care about it, and so I want to be more conscious of what I put into it!

I think I will feel like a weight has been lifted and like I have room to breath once I have put all these things in motion properly, and I know it wont be a quick task, but I am ready to start slow and see slow progress in order to get where I want to be. Slow progress is always a step in the right direction and better than no progress at all.

  2. We're in the middle of a massive declutter and clear out as well at the moment. It can be so liberating to feel like you're taking back control of your life. Fingers crossed, your surgery goes well so you can start to feel on top of things again.

  3. Hope your surgery goes as well as possible lovely. I love having a good old spring clean and declutter, it makes me feel like I can breathe again. I'm almost finished the book 'The Life Changing Magic Of Tidying' and am itching to get started but trying to hold off until I've finished it completely!
