Too faced melted metal lip Dream house

I love the too faced melted original line and have a few colours already of the regular formula. I was so intrigued when I spotted this one and managed to pick it up on offer. I quite like pink lips, but tend to lean towards the nudes or bright reds recently as they make a statement, or are understated for statement eyes. When I spotted this I thought it would be a great push to try out some more pink toned colours again as we move forward to spring and summer and give my make up a bit of a shake up.

Having fallen in love with the regular line I had high hopes for this one, and metal makes it sounds like it has a beautiful sheen finish to it. I haven't really looked into the metal range of these much as I didn't think they were something I would go for, but when I saw it in person I decided to bite the bullet and have a go.

The tube is a lovely size and has 12ml of product in. It is shaped in a toothpaste shape tube which is easy to squeeze and use, with the product being squeezed onto a sponge in the top of the product. I think the sponge is a lovely way to apply the product, and while it may not be the most hygienic in the long term, it does apply the colours smoothly and  evenly which I do like.

The product is easy to squeeze out of the tube and easy to apply, I tend to squeeze and apply a small amount of product and squeeze a little more out as I go along to cover the lips evenly. The colour is a vibrant hot pink with pearl-like shimmer finish in a blue toned pink. The product applied quite thinly on the lips and was more sheer than I was hoping for based on the original formula, but it is quite a decent covering on the lips. The colour looks lovely and the colour looks lovely on the lips however it stays a wet/glossy formula that doesn't dry down so I found on me it wore down to a sheer colour quite quickly with the sheen being the prominent part of the colour that was left.

I think if I was to wear this on a long term basis or wear this for an event or day out I would wear a normal pink lipstick underneath and use this as a 'topcoat' to give the lipstick extra definition and make it look more effective on the lips. I feel this is a disappointing lipstick on its own as I was hoping it would be more opaque and 'metal' looking.

At £19, and can be found on Debenhams here, I was slightly disappointed with the metal formula, however, if you want to see my thoughts on the original range and swatches of the ones I prefer  I will be happy to do a post about those to share my thoughts on how they work too. I will continue to experiment with this and find the best way to wear it, which I think will be over the top of another lipstick, but I will try to remember o update you all with a method of what works for me in the future.

  1. I picked this up in T K Maxx and absolutely love it. It's definitely not worthy of the 'metal' title, and it's not incredibly pigmented but I've been loving wearing it subtly for a day time pop of pink!

    1. I know what you mean, I was expecting a vibrant opaque colour and it just wasn't what I was expecting, but I know I will get a lot of use from it in a more subtle way x

    1. I definitely think the matte ones are a lot better, I think I hoped these would be as pigmented, but they just weren't quite what I hoped! x

  3. I've never seen this before or even used Too Face products before (I think!) It's a shame you didn't like this as much as the original.

    1. I know I had really high hopes for them as I love the original but it didn't quite work out. Luckily it is still a nice colour and I can find some use for it x
