Real Techniques Bold metals 200 Oval shadow brush

Real techniques is a well known brush brand from the much loved ladies, Sam and Nic over at Pixiwoo, who I am sure you have heard of. They have their regular line of brushes, a more premium range the bold metals line, with a newer range the multi tech range. I love the way the bold metals brushes look, and this, just like the other eye brushes has a beautiful silver finish to it. The look so indulgent and pretty on my dressing table that the aesthetic alone is a selling point. So lets see how this worked on the eye!

As mentioned above the brush is a beautiful silver colour all the way up the handle of the brush wit crisp white looking bristles. The brush is so pleasing to look at and the minimal branding A simple 'RT' on the front and '200' printed on the back, the brush is simple, sleek and very expensive looking.

The bristles of the brush are clean and crisp, feeling soft but dense to pick up a nice amount of colour an distribute it evenly on the eye. The firm bristles mean it isn't flimsy or cheap feeling, and this makes it really easy to work with and precise to apply colour with. The handle is weighted to allow precision and control, and while these do feel great quality but the weight isn't something I really noticed. I think we tend to pick up a brush and adapt a technique and method of applying product, so I think this aids, but doesn't affect the application enough to make me notice it.

I initially looked at this brush when I first got it and though it looked huge for an eye brush! I have to say it took me a few attempts to find my best use for it, and I can honestly say it has quickly become one of my most used brushes. My favourite way to use this is to apply one even colour all over the lid, this is a look I do most days for work when I am running short on time but want to wear make up.

At £15 each this brush isn't the cheapest eye brush on the market, and if you aren't in the market for a wide brush which I think is most useful for all over shadow application you could perhaps shop the other brushes in the collection, but I have used this so much on a day to day basis where I don't want to use too many colours on the eye or smoke out a look with a colour in the crease. I have used this brush so much that I have definitely got my moneys worth already and know it will become a staple brush in my collection for a long time! What are your favourite eye brushes?

  1. Absolutely adore the bold metals collection - they are all so soft and instagrammable! My fave is the powder brush, I literally sat there stroking my face with it all evening after I had bought it! Other than the Bold Metals 200, my other go-to for eyes is my trusty MAC 217 which makes blending a breeze.

  2. I got this brush in a set at Christmas last year. It's one of my favourite brushes for blending and softening up edges. I keep meaning to pick up another as backup!
I love the Makeup Geek Brushes, and I have a set from a brand called Lamora that I bought on amazon (£15 for 7 brushes) and the blending brush in that is my ultimate favourite brush!
